Senator Gordner Encourages Small Businesses to Apply for Energy Grants
HARRISBURG - - The state Department of Environmental Protection is accepting
applications from small businesses for the Small Business Advantage Program for
pollution prevention and energy efficiency projects, according to Senator John
R. Gordner (R-27). Matching grants of up to $7,500 are available to most small
businesses within the Commonwealth.
"Well designed energy efficiency and pollution control projects help small
businesses save money and helps protect the environment," said Senator Gordner.
The project to which the grant will apply must be located within a small
business facility in the Commonwealth and must save the business at least
20 percent annually in energy or pollution related expenses. Eligible
projects include installation of energy efficiency equipment or pollution
control devices, processes that reduce energy consumption or use of raw
materials, or reduce the production of waste.
The Department is accepting applications until January 15, 2010. Eligible
projects must be completed by June 30, 2010. Awards are expected in March.
