Senator Gordner Re-Appointed to Legislative Environmental Panel

(HARRISBURG) - - Senator John R. Gordner(R-27) has been re-appointed to the Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee for the 2005-06 session of the General Assembly.

The appointment was announced by Senate President Pro Tempore Robert C. Jubelirer(R-30).  The Joint Legislative Conservation Committee consists of nine members of the Senate and nine members of the House of Representatives.  The Committee was created in 1967 to conduct continuous studies of the Commonwealth's pollution and environmental laws, and to make recommendations to the General Assembly concerning needed changes to those laws.

"The Committee has reported on various environmental issues from dealing with sewage overflows to recycling waste tires to use and managements of state parks," said Gordner.  "Many of the Committee's recommendations have resulted in laws and policies that have improved our environment."
