Senator Gordner Says Recycling Grants Are Available to Support Local Programs

(HARRISBURG) - Municipal recycling programs are eligible for Recycling Program Development Grants through the state Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).

"Recycling is important for the economy, helps reduce energy consumption, and of course is great for the environment," said the Senator. "This important program provides grants of up to $500,000 to municipalities to continue to develop these important programs."

Funding priorities for the program include:

  • Incentive based pricing and collection programs to increase the quantities and types of municipally recycled materials.
  • Curbside residential recycling vehicles that utilize alternatives for or supplements to traditional petroleum vehicles.
  • Multi-municipal recycling programs.
  • Equipment to collect and process fiber products such as corrugated cardboard, junk mail and other paper not currently included in recycling programs.

Additional information is available at www.depweb.state.pa.us  keyword: recycling.
