Senator Gordner Says Recycling Grants Are Available to Support Local Programs

(HARRISBURG) - Municipal recycling programs are eligible for Recycling Program Development Grants through the state Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).

"Recycling is important for the economy, helps reduce energy consumption, and of course is great for the environment," said the Senator. "This important program provides grants of up to $500,000 to municipalities to continue to develop these important programs."

Funding priorities for the program include:

Incentive based pricing and collection programs to increase the quantities and types of municipally recycled materials.
Curbside residential recycling vehicles that utilize alternatives for or supplements to traditional petroleum vehicles.
Multi-municipal recycling programs.
Equipment to collect and process fiber products such as corrugated cardboard, junk mail and other paper not currently included in recycling programs.
