FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senate Unanimously Passes Gordner Resolution Designating National Day of Prayer in Pennsylvania(HARRISBURG) - - The Senate of Pennsylvania today unanimously passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27) that recognizes May 3 as the "National Day of Prayer" in Pennsylvania. Sen. Gordner said the first Thursday of May has been designated annually across the country to recognize the power of prayer. "Prayer is regarded by millions as the most important utterance for the benefit of our society," said the Senator. "The National Day of Prayer is a day to ask for healing and unity," said Sen. Gordner, who noted the annual designation is being recognized by Congress and by state legislatures across the country. The theme of this year's 56th annual National Day of Prayer is "America, Unite in Prayer". Senator Gordner will be attending a noon ceremony noting National Day of Prayer at one of the county courthouses in the 27th Senatorial District. |
